About
One kind of appliance, one town
We are an independent repair business working on cooking appliances only — ranges, wall ovens, cooktops and the ventilation above them. Nothing cold, nothing wet.
- Independent Wolf service. We are not the manufacturer and we do not act on their behalf.
- Ranges, built-in wall ovens, gas and induction cooktops, and wall, island and insert ventilation.
- Diagnosis is done in the kitchen. Gas readings are taken on every gas call, before and after.
- Factory-approved parts where the design calls for them, matched to the model number before ordering.
Why it works this way
Readings first, parts second
A cooking appliance has a short list of things that can fail and a long list of parts that could be blamed for it. Order from the parts list and you get three visits and a bill nobody planned for. Take the readings first and most calls close on the first one.
Brookline makes that harder in a specific way. A hood in a Coolidge Corner apartment shares its riser with other flats; a range on Fisher Hill sits several steps up from the street; a Longwood kitchen is reached by a service stair a fridge will not fit down. All of that is worth knowing before the van is loaded.
What we will say
Including when to stop
Some appliances are not worth the repair. A discontinued board on a range that has already had two is a hard conversation, but a cheaper one than discovering it across two visits and a parts order.
If that is the answer, you have paid the $95 service call and nothing else, and you know exactly what it was based on.
How a call runs
Three stages, and you hear the price at the third
-
One
Say what it is doing
The model number off the plate behind the kick panel or inside the door, plus the symptom in your own words. Most faults are half-diagnosed before anyone leaves.
-
Two
Readings in your kitchen
Gas pressure at the manifold, spark and flame sense burner by burner, element and sensor resistance, cavity temperature across a full preheat, blower current on a hood.
-
Three
A figure before it opens
Parts and labour as one number, with the alternative if there is one. If the honest answer is that it is not worth repairing, you will be told that instead.
